Through the eyes of my camera i don’t just see something which i will know will make a good photo, purely because for me i will just be like one more photographer to add on to the thousands which are already out there. I also don’t want to be put in that awkward position of saying to myself do i really want this ( taking photos/painting pictures ) to be a lifetime hobby knowing that there is something unique in creating art from my photos
No i am neither a perfectionist, or constantly go on by saying i can do this and that, etc etc, another thing i never expect anyone to like what i do,but then i am a great believer in saying we can all find that creativity inside us.Taking photos,or painting a nice scenic landscape are all skills which if you go down the route of going to art college or in my case i ended up getting private lessons in understanding the art of perspective.
How did this happen well it was already being noticed i had a flair for drawing interiors of make believe houses and buildings churches objects like a television etc, from there the rest is history. Today paints a different picture and therefore if it wasn’t for technology i would still be on the verge of painting and drawing with watercolors charcoal and pastels
Meaning i can revert back to creating art the traditional way whilst utilizing the technological advances we have at our disposal i:e computers, digital cameras, ipods, flat screen tv’s,surely could we do without these things,no. For those of us who are web designers graphic artists and photographers the arrival of the digital age couldn’t have come at a better time, but then keeping up with all the latest software, gizmo’s and gadgets comes at quite a hefty price
Going back to the main topic and i hope you will have your say in this too on do you think my photography is art , my theory is simple one can define the fact a photo should stay true to its form from the moment its either recorded on film or memory card and then stored, framed or mounted. Move forward a step the arrival of photo -editing,digitally
manipulating photos, applying effects like sepia, silver gelatin, midnight blue manually/digitally to the photo or duplicate/copy of the original image something which is being done a lot these days, from there if that wasn’t enough turning your photos in to pop art, adding fancy borders, selective coloring, etc etc. What more can you want than to see images of that special day, birthday celebration turned into a large canvas print
Shall i go on knowing that its best to see the kind of images i create seen on my website along with sites like art wanted deviant art and art industri, not forgetting i might put some of my work here on this blog listed under gallery when i get round to doing it, please free to comment and if i have missed anything out let me know
